I've noticed, Harry loathes getting attention and he could careless for money. That would be fine if he was a homeless, but in his situation everyone who meets him knows who he is. He barely ever has to introduce himself, and actually likes to lie about who he is. Just because Harry doesn't want to be famous or wealthy that doesn't mean others don't either. His childhood enemy, Draco Malfoy, hates Harry because he wishes he as popular as Harry is. He makes fun of the newspaper headlines and his friends and anything that has to do with Potter.
Ron's biggest wish is to be wealthy and complains how horrid it is to be poor. When Harry buys things from him he feels guilty and wants to be able to pay him back. It's as if Harry's 'perfect' life isn't good enough for him, and if only he could give it away he would be happy.
